At home this christmas. I popped down to see my dear ,close childhood friend Louise , I rang the doorbell, a few seconds later her lovely husband comes out laughing. why are you ringing the doorbell? The only person who rings the doorbell is the tv license man! Life in Bordeaux is much more reserved. This made me smile & makes me smile even more now as I ponder on it. I have lived abroad for many many years now. I can always go home to a friend’s house that is open ,welcoming & funny.
